ABOUT OUR RABBI A brief overview of Rabbi Salomon Cohen-Scali's background and experience

Rabbi Salomon Cohen-Scali was born June 2, 1958. He has a lovely wife Raquel and is
blessed 5 darling children. Esther, Mercedes, Shemuel, Miriam and Moshe Chayim.
Aside from her talents as a wonderful mother Raquel has a degree in Chemistry and is a
certified High School teacher.
Rabbi Cohen-Scali has earned a Teacher's Diploma for Jewish primary schools and High
Schools. He completed his Yeshiva studies at Judith Lady Montefiore College in
London. Rabbi Cohen-Scali earned his B.A. in Jewish studies at Jew's College in
London and was awarded his Degree with Honors issued by the National Council for
Academic Awards of England. Rabbi Cohen graduated from the Official School of
Languages in Malaga (Spain) with a certificate in English language.
Rabbi Cohen is a mohel and is certified to perform ritual circumcisions.
Rabbi Cohen is also a Shochet and is authorized to ritually prepare kosher
meats. Rabbi Cohen earned his Rabbinic ordination from Rabbi E. Abergel, Head of the
Supreme Rabbinical Court in Jerusalem, and by the Rabbi's of the Shehebar Sefardic
Center, after examinations by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Rabbi Cohen also has
completed the "Ohr Lagola" qualifying program for educators and community leaders at
Yeshivat Ohr Somayah in Jerusalem. Rabbi Cohen is a Sofer(scribe), and able to write
mezuzot and repair a sefer torah.
Rabbi Cohen's extensive work experience includes three years as kashrut advisor to the
federation of Jewish communities of Spain. He also served three years as Chief Rabbi
to the Jewish community of Barcelona, Spain.
Rabbi Cohen served for three years as assistant rabbi in charge of education
in Ceuta, Spain. While in Ceuta Rabbi Cohen taught chumash and Hebrew.
Earlier in his career Rabbi Cohen spent four years as educator and Youth Leader for the
southern communities of Spain and five years as principal of the Talmud Torah. Rabbi
Cohen was responsible for adult education in Melilla, Spain.
Rabbi Cohen speaks English Hebrew, Spanish, and has a good working knowledge of
French.
